CHRISTIAN – Lindy Hop/Solo Jazz
Dance and music have always been a big part of my life. As a child, I was a keen tap, modern, and jazz dancer, regularly attending dance lessons and performing. With a dad who was a passionate jazz guitarist, I grew up surrounded by music from an early age.
In 2018, I came across some Lindy Hoppers dancing in Exmouth, and it instantly sparked something in me. Since then, I’ve fully embraced The Lindy Hop, attending festivals across the UK and abroad, and getting involved in as many local opportunities as possible. I have also been part of the Jazzettes performance troupe for four years which has helped to grow my love of solo jazz dancing.
I truly believe that The Lindy Hop and dancing has the power to bring people together, transform lives and build community. I’ve been a regular teacher at Swing Exe for the past two years, and I love sharing my passion for the dance with both newcomers and experienced dancers. Teaching gives me the chance to help others discover just how joyful and life-enhancing dance can be.

ARIANA – Lindy Hop/Balboa
I first got into dancing when a friend invited me along to classes in 2016. Before I knew it I had made friends for life and was travelling around the country and Europe, going to workshops and social dances. My favourite time to dance is in the DJ set after a band’s last set – the energy is always so high!
What I love about Lindy Hop is that everyone is always smiling on the dance floor. It’s a joyful dance rooted in connection.
JACKIE – Lindy Hop/Balboa
I first discovered swing dancing in 2016 after spotting a group of dancers in a bar in Exeter and I was instantly hooked. I quickly fell in love with both the dance and the welcoming community and began travelling to every social and workshop I could find. Not long after starting Lindy Hop, I was introduced to Balboa, another dance under the swing umbrella, and it quickly became a favourite for me.
Since then, I’ve danced across the UK and in several European cities, always on the lookout for dancing opportunities. What I love most about swing dancing is that every dance is a unique conversation, it’s an opportunity to connect, communicate, and be inspired by your partner.
My dancing highlight has to be Lindy Shock 2019, where I found myself dancing until 7am on a boat in the river Danube, Budapest, while locals made their way to work.
By teaching with Swing Exe, I hope to share my love for the dance, inspire new dancers, and help our community continue to grow.
